When I first got into K dramas I had the expectation of watching something cute, romantic and vibes similar to those. Well all that is still prevalent but there is so much more. K dramas have such a wide genre and Crime/ Thrillers are by far my favorite. Here is another series I finished watching.

SYNOPSIS

Moo Jin-Hyuk (Jang Hyuk) was a popular detective who solved major cases, but after his wife was murdered by a serial killer his life spiraled down. He is filled with guilt that he was not able to protect his wife and he secretly looks for her killer. Meanwhile, Kang Kwon-Joo (Lee Ha-Na) graduated at police academy with top marks. She began to work at an emergency 112 call center. Working there, a brutal murder case takes place and her father/police sergeant went to the crime scene. Her father is killed there and Kwon-Joo hears what happened over the phone. Afterwards, she goes to the U.S. to study and comes back to Korea as a professional voice profiler. Detective Jin-Hyuk and Kang Kwon-Joo solve cases together. Chasing a serial killer responsible for the deaths of their family member.

THOUGHTS

To be honest, I am not sure how I feel about this show. It wasn’t bad enough to quit it, it wasn’t good enough that I would recommend it to anyone else.

VOICE

The unique thing about this show is that lead actress has this special ability she developed – the ability to hear. It sounds really amazing, and I imagine a lot could have been done with this feature alone . However, the execution for this has a few glitches. I wish she used it for things apart from solving crimes, it could have made the story so much more entertaining.

CRIME

One of the things that was done well, is the variety of crimes this show tried to cover. We had white collar crimes, domestic abuse and the plain old robbery and murder scenarios. It was executed realistically and leaves you unsettled with how it all ends. It also did well with the element of “911” or the “Golden Time Period” that can save lives if done properly.

IRRITATING CHARACTERS & PLOT HOLES

The biggest downside of this show is the irritating characters and the obvious plot holes. It is illogical at times, where police don’t even follow basic procedures of collecting forensic evidence. You would probably still get the thrill out of this if you enjoyed shows like CSI. It has those vibes without the technical aspects.

RATING : 2.5/5.0

Overall, this was okay. It is entertaining and a one time watch. Saying that, I am still excited to watch Season 2. The story line has quite a potential an I’d like to give this another chance.
