I finally watched a Japanese Movie that isn’t anime. Even though this is an anime series adaptation. 😛 I am trying to watch and read more Asian Stories as I find it so different from the mainstream and absolutely refreshing. Bleach did not disappoint. Now, I wish I had seen the Anime Series before watching this. However, I’ll be watching it either ways. 😛

SYNOPSIS

undefined

Ichigo Kurosaki is a High School student, living in Karakura town. He is able to see ghosts, as well as hollows. Later, he meets up with Rukia Kuchiki, a Death God or Soul Reaper (Shinigami in Japanese). Later, he finds out that he himself is a Soul Reaper as well. Ichigo Kurosaki, now with the power of a Soul Reaper, is able to protect Karakura town from hollows.

THOUGHTS

ACTION PACKED

The entire movie has so much action scenes which would be a treat if you love those kind of movies. I loved to see Ichigo’s power movies in this one. It reminded me of watching One Punch Man too and I guess if you like One Punch Man, you will definitely love this movie or anime series.

CHARACTERS

I loved how each character had their own backstory and mysterious vibe. I wanted to know more about everyone. My favorite of course was Ichigo. Such an eye candy too. 😛 Loved how his character changed from being this casual guy that doesn’t want to get into drama to him being the savior. Quite a character’s journey to witness. Also this scene where he just doesn’t give up is so beautiful.. This was the absolute favorite scene of the movie for me.

HOLLOWS

The entire movie has so many things done perfectly I don’t know which ones to highlight. But most of all, the whole ideation of hollows, their characterization in the movie was absolutely brilliant. Also, they look horrifying.

JAPANESE CULTURE & BELIEFS

I am always fascinated with learning about new cultures and their beliefs. It all boils down to good vs evil , although the interpretation might be different. The story shows some Shinto beliefs of purifying souls and the afterlife. Absolutely intrigued by the Soul Society Arch and would love to see more of it.

RATING : 5.0/5.0

Overall, this seemed like a full package and was entertaining from the start to finish. There is action, fantasy and some adventure to you glued till the end. There is a lot of attention to detail and little things like those swords or their clothes bring that added essence to the movie. Definitely worth a watch and a re-watch too 😛
