The Much Needed Feel Good Movie ft.The Terminal| 2004

With everything happening in my life and the world, I really needed to re visit some really good movies that could give me I don’t know… hope maybe?
The Terminal although inspired by true events will always remain one such movie to me that leaves me with a very optimistic approach to life, the can-do spirit maybe?

WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

The Terminal (2004)

Victor Navorski reaches JFK airport from a politically unstable country. Due to collapse of his government, his papers are no longer valid in the airport, and hence he is forced to stay in the airport until the war cools down. He makes the airport his home and develops a friendship with the people who work there until he can leave.

THOUGHTS

THE LANGUAGE BARRIER
I don’t really think this movie needs any justification of how brilliant it is. But one of the things that I really loved is how Language Barriers don’t stop this man. He may not know English as much, but oh my god he is one hell of a man. Which I guess takes of the basic stigma of people that act like knowing to talk English automatically makes you a smarter person.

A CHARMING MAN
Victor is a very charming character… He manages to earn his keep, find a girl and make new friends. Even the whole back story of why he wants to visit New York is quite extra ordinary and so innocent. I love that he is able to keep his promise despite it all.

INSPIRED BY TRUE EVENTS
On the flip side, I later researched if there are really people like this living on an Airport and to my surprise there are a bunch of them. Obviously, it is nothing like the way they how in this movie for them but it builds hope doesn’t it? I guess I would have never known there are people like this , or airports and countries that deny entry all together for years.

Rating: ★★★★★

Overall, This movie is one for those rainy days. It’s a classic and I don’t think it needs any more justification from my end. This movie is a must watch.
