My Heart & Other Black Holes by Jasmine Warga

If you have been following my blog, you already know this was one of the books I picked up for my OWLS Readathon this year. I am genuinely sad this did not receive as much attention as the other books that follow the same theme.

Even though Aysel and Roman have nothing in common, they slowly start to fill in each otherโ€™s broken lives. But as their suicide pact becomes more concrete, Aysel begins to question whether she really wants to go through with it. Ultimately, she must choose between wanting to die or trying to convince Roman to live so they can discover the potential of their energy together. Except that Roman may not be so easy to convince.

The story ends in a good note. It has depressive monologues that made me relate on a next level. So yes, even though it has some major depression and suicidal trigger warning I would recommend you to read it despite it all and get to the end as what this book does is it lets you know how important- human connection and just talking about how you feel to someone you’re comfortable with is.
It doesn’t promise you with a false notion that things will always get better, It just lets you understand you will find courage to go through everything when you have someone that merely just takes an effort to understand you. So keep going.

While, it is in fact true. Ask someone that is in love with someone. ๐Ÿ˜› Platonic Love counts too right?. So, well.. But this one makes us believe the love interest specifically makes things better and I would have really enjoyed this much better without the cliche romance.

This is probably an obvious understanding to add the – ” what will happen after I die and how will my close one’s cope?” Well, I find this book did it really well.

RATING : 4.0/5.0

Overall, this book kept reminding me of ALL The Bright Places which was another books I loved but left me in tears. This one though left me with hope.
