Darius the Great Is Not Okay

The book title and the cover is what got me interested to pick this up. The portrayal of depression or loving someone that is depressed is what makes it special.
However, what makes this book a hidden gem is how rich it is in its descriptions of Persian Culture and it’s representation of a pure and wholesome friendship between Sohrab and Darious.

This book taught me so much about Iran and made me fall in love with tea, even though I have always been a coffee person.

Daisy Jones & The Six

When this was first released, everybody on Instagram was raving about this and I was not really sure if I would like to read about a music band and why did it split. But it is so much more.
It opens a discussion to so many different topics like Drug use and addiction, The Rock Music scenes in 1970โ€™s, Abortion and most importantly Love and Relationships.
Daisy Jones & The Six has the best love triangle trope I have ever read,so realistic and moving its devastating.
I was failing to come to terms that this is a fictional band, and I canโ€™t listen to their songs, and it was devastating to know about their fictional fall out. That is the true beauty of the story.

Salt To The Sea

I don’t think this book gets enough credit to be honest. This is not the first few books that people recommend for WW2. I only picked this up because I happened to stumble upon it Goodreads where it mentions its about the single greatest tragedy in maritime history and wanted to give it a try.

This book though sheds light on one of the darkest periods of human history as a result of violence and desperation while highlighting the fight for basic survival.
The characters are confused, lost and disoriented because thatโ€™s what war does. doesnโ€™t it? So, don’t read this as just another World War Tragedy, it is so much more. It is the essence of what war does to people.

My Sister, The Serial Killer

So, I have a history of not liking award winning books. So I really did not expect much from this to begin with. However, I heard so many good things about that decide to give it a try.
To be honest, a thriller where I already know who the killer is did not really sound like something that would hold my attention for long. But, hold on! This book is so much more than just a mystery. It shows you how blurred the lines between right and wrong are when it comes to protecting your loved ones also not to forget how sassy Korede is.

The Turn Of The Key

A Gothic, creepy and a secluded houses with a past is what sold it for me. However, what the author has done with the plot is literally mind blowing.

A haunted house is such an old trope, that I honestly did not know how it could possible have any new element added to it. But this book does it. The mix of an old setting and an ultra modern technology. I loved how the author was able to create a creepy ambiance using just technology as a tool.
Think โ€“ Alexa or a Google Home! Everything in this house depends on technology like Bio metric Locks, Sensor Lights, CCTV, and to control is all.. there is an app that creates havoc and chaos with all its malfunctions.
