Ever is working toward becoming a doctor but nurses a secret passion for dance.
Rick Woo is the Yale-bound child prodigy bane of Ever’s existence whose perfection hides a secret.Boy-crazy, fashion-obsessed
Sophie Ha turns out to have more to her than meets the eye.And under sexy
Xavier Yeh’s shell is buried a shameful truth he’ll never admit.

When these students’ lives collide, it’s guaranteed to be a summer Ever will never forget!

Between camp classes, hookups, glamour photo shoots , preparing for the talent show and night outs to pubs drinking Snake Blood. This story paints a rather entertaining story set in the background of dealing with mental health, family pressure and following your dream.

“My parents sent me to discover my heritage, but in the process, I’m also finding parts of myself, even if that self isn’t who they want me to be.”

This book left me with a wanderlust for Taipei. I was never so keen to visit Taiwan before this. The night markets, culture and touristy spots mentioned in this book had me make a bucket list for all the things I want to do in Taipei someday.

I wasn’t very keen on the love triangle in this book. However, I found rooting for Xavier and Ever more than Boy Wonder.
Xavier seemed so mysterious and the playboy loner that every girl cant help but fall for.
Sophie seemed rather too immature to me.

The book mainly features Chinese American Children born to immigrants that share the family pressure in different aspects of their life. Ever is portrayed as a character that wants to be a dancer, but is forced to be a doctor by her strict parents that have set out rules for her to follow. Sophie and Rick are constantly pressured to find their other half that are perfect in every sense. However, the drama was over done for me.

Overall, The entertainment value of this book is top notch while also dealing with issues Asian Immigrant Children usually face.
