My first K Drama of the Year started with a back list and a lot of action 😛
Also, I have found my new fictional crush already! – Kim Je Ha.

WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

The K2 (2016)

Kim Je Ha is former solider for hire. He is also called K2. He is hired as a bodyguard by Choi Yoo Jin. Choi Yoo Jin is the wife of Jang Se Joon, who is running for president. Meanwhile, Go Anna is the reclusive illegitimate daughter of Jang Se Joon whom Je Ha has to guard.

THOUGHTS

I finished this in about 3 Week Days. This series has been fast paced and kept me on the edge enough to continue on with the series. Also, An extremely good looking actor sort of helps 😛
The plot is engaging and definitely floats on the Good vs Evil Themes. We can see people misusing their power and status. We can see characters blinded with greed to an extent they leave behind their family and loved ones.

Chang-Wook Ji in The K2 (2016)

You really end up hating the evil characters even though they try to seek redemption. The acting was super good in this one.

The Romance in the series is a slow burn and doesn’t take away from the plot of the series. I did not quite enjoy Go Anna’s timid and distressed character as much though. It kind of got quite annoying after a point. She is shown as the “prettiest girl ever” which was rather over the top and a bit unrealistic. Also, her ability of being dumb was outrageous.

However, I did like how smart Kim Je Ha was in the entire series as a bodyguard. Also, wasn’t much of a fan of the soundtrack in this one

Rating: ★★★⍣

Overall, The K2 is a political drama series that has tonnes of action scenes if you are into that kind and even though there are a few glitches it is entertaining throughout. Men will love the action while there is enough eye candy for the female viewers.

  1. I wasn’t particularly interested in this one, but now I may rethink it… I hope to find some time to watch some dramas because I am way behind with them!
