The Dragon Prince| S1 |2018

I have set myself to see more Anime this year and did not realize I have dived into a whole different type of fandom altogether. Although, I have no idea where to begin . I decided to go with the one’s airing on Netflix for the time being.
Hopefully, I shall find more Anime Series I am interested in eventually!

Meanwhile, my first Anime Series of the Year – The Dragon Prince| Season 1

WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

The Dragon Prince (2018)

Humans have killed the dragon king and supposedly destroyed his heir’s egg, and war is imminent. Two human princes forge an unlikely bond with the elfin assassin sent to kill them, embarking on an epic quest to bring peace to their warring lands.

THOUGHTS

The First Season contributes to a lot of world building for the next seasons to follow and it was rather intriguing with how relevant the plot is to everything that’s happening in the world. You could easily replace the dragon civilization to a foreign country and the human civilization to another and see how easy it is to restore peace and how hard it is to convince people to resort to peace instead of waging war in exchange. This show highlights such important moral concepts with a light, heart warming tale even though the animation style took a lot of getting used to.

Set in a fantasy world on the continent of Xadia, which is rich with magic derived from six primal elements: The Sun, the Moon, the Stars, the Earth, the Sky and the Ocean. The humans—who could not utilize primal magic without an artificial focus—discovered the use of dark magic, which is fueled by the life essence of animals and magical creatures. As a consequence, they were driven off by the dragons and elves of Xadia to the other end of the continent, where they founded the five human kingdoms. The Breach, the border between the two halves of the continent, was guarded by Avizandum, the king of dragons.

The Dragon Prince (2018)

I loved how the characters are young and see the world in a different light. They are willing to listen to their counterparts point of view and don’t hesitate to feel mere empathy towards the situation. Every character has something I could relate to. Honestly. it seemed like every character in the series had a purpose and certain importance. Even the Bait!

Jack De Sena and Paula Burrows in The Dragon Prince (2018)

The magic system in this series is absolutely fantastic! Callum and Kayla are hinting for a romantic relationship and I am already shipping them. And the humor and sarcasm is absolutely gold! This show is a must watch and a hidden gem.

Rating: ★★★⍣

Overall, The Dragon Prince deals with a lot of Good vs Evil tropes and is extremely incredible with it’s ability to keep you wanting more and has already given me high hopes for the next installment in the series.
