The Sky Is Pink | 2019

I watched this with Maa over the Christmas Holidays and OMG.. we both were crying and smiling and ended up hugging each other. This was quite an overly emotional story for both of us and got very personal especially with Still gives me the blues! Although it equally has it’s cute moments that will make you smile.

WHAT IS ABOUT?

The Sky Is Pink.jpg

The Sky Is Pink is a 2019 Indian Hindi-language biographical film. It is based on the love story of a couple spanning 25 years, told through the lens of their spunky teenage daughter Aisha Chaudhary, who was diagnosed with a Pulmonary fibrosis .  Unexpectedly humorous, warm and heart wrenching all at once as the magic of life and beauty of death manifest in one family’s unusual, courageous journey in this 100% true story.

THOUGHTS

Even though this book is emotionally stirring and plays with your heart strings, it successfully drives awareness to SCID – a rare genetic disorder

One middle class family’s turmoil that begins right after their daughter’s birth and follows the aftermath of her death! It isn’t overly melodramatic and instead focuses on her family coping with and making sacrifices for Aisha, first suffering with SCID and later from pulmonary fibrosis due to the lack in her immune system.

Absolutely loved the pop and cheerful background music that elevated the essence of valuing the life we have irrespective of our circumstances.

It doesn’t miss out on the filmy romance that I always crave for in a Bollywood Movie! The story doesn’t give you that cliche romance but it does give you a vibe of a couple with beautiful memories and tremendous love for each other. The family bonding in this movie is just too good it’s sad.

And only when I thought I couldn’t cry any more. They pull on the credits and tell you it’s based on a true story.. WHATT!!! The fact that this is a true story left me mad at the universe. ><

You can check out her TED Talk where she shares her understanding of life. This girl is an inspiration. Even though short lived, she chose happiness and embraced life with all its cruelty.

“Happiness is a choice one makes, it’s simply an attitude. I can either try to be happy and try to smile through all of my difficult times or I can choose to be miserable and get overwhelmed by it. It’s important to create many happy memories so that we can try to wipe out the sad ones.”

Also, her brother made her song!

Rating: ★★★★

Overall, This movie is painful and a humbling learning experience that sets off to unforgivably mock the time we waste on stressing over stupid stuff. *points the finger at me*

  1. I have been planning to watch this movie for a long time. With a not-so-favorable BO collection, I was inclined not to watch it. But your review has me thinking otherwise. Thanks. 🙂
