Duology|Good Night Stories For Rebel Girls by Elena Favilli, Francesca Cavallo

I grew up reading fairy tales. About princesses being the damsel in distress awaiting rescue. This is the book I hope my kids read and cherish some day.
This book is the kind of stories we need to talk about instead of stupid princesses that wait for their prince in shining armor.

THOUGHTS

When I finished reading these books, I immediately gave this a 5 star and was surprised people actually rolled their eyes over this. To put it more in perspective, I agree not every single achievement was listed out. And it would be injustice to even try. These short essays on 200 inspiring women is only a brief introduction to them and I kept googling wanting more every now and then.

The women in here are inclusive of all races, places and religions. It is an ode to resistance that is the first step towards change and how questioning the system might term you as a rebel but will also help you grow.
To be honest, the title claims to be meant for rebel girls, but I would recommend it to everyone young or old, boy or girl. We all need a little inspiration sometimes!

Not much to my surprise, I found a lot of well known individuals listed in Cleopatra, Jane Austen, The Bronte Sisters and many more which was a delight to read. However, this book has a ton of unsung heroes which makes a little extra special for me.

Even though some of these women in this book will open up difficult conversations to serious issues in the world that we face even today. It does bring a positive and hopeful approach to such situations with individuals like Malala from Pakistan, or Sonita Alizadeh from Afghanistan and many more that strive to be vocal against injustice and basic rights.

RATING: ★★★★★

Overall, This book is a must read for kids and everybody that like a little hope alive in their hearts.
