I have been reading books ever since I was a Kid. Although, there are a lot more books that I loved, I did not want to list the obvious Secret Seven or Famous Five by Enid Blyton.
Other books that were shortlisted were Naughtiest Girl Series, and Harry Potter.
However, here is a list of 5 books I children’s book that are dear to me :
- Heidi by Johanna Spyri
Heidi is about an orphan who goes to work in Frankfurt, and quickly realizes she misses her life in the Swiss Alps, with her grandfather and friend Peter.
This book is extremely close to me, because it reminds me of my time spent with my grandparents. The summer vacations, I went to stay at their place, and was treated with utmost care and love. Heidi reminds me of the time, I used to dream about the living in Switzerland. I seen a picture, and my dad said the place was in Switzerland. So yes, I am drawn to the mountains and this book has been a pleasant visit to my childhood in its own special way
- Charlotte’s Web by E.B White
I am someone that can easily creep out on insects and animals that aren’t cats or dogs. Charlotte’s Web made m e like pigs, rats and gooses and bawl my eyes over a spider. I basically wished I had the power to understand animal language. Also, Charlotte and Wilbur’s friendship is goals.
Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll
I should mention I love the non-nonsensical feel of this book. The Cheshire Cat the stack of cards and the tea party where it’s always 6 o’clock. … Apart from that, I feel the symbolism in this book is thought provoking and does have a vibe of it to be read between the lines.
- Coraline by Neil Gaiman
Coraline, is a story that gave me nightmares. I am a bit too paranoid about my parents running into my doppelganger and mistaking her for me. I am always telling them what my doppelganger wouldn’t know and so on.Coraline, is about this girl who enters a world that has another mother and father and while all seems better than her ordinary life, she quickly realizes it’s a trap and needs to get back to her parents, and save herself
- Matilda by Roald Dahl
Matilda is about this girl who loves reading and is smart and quirky and has super powers, Need I say more ? This book at first will seem to be about this cute girl who knows telekinesis and is a child prodigy. However, I feel it also plays at the theme of child neglect and parenting.
Have you read any of these books? Do you have any favorite childhood book?
